Vertical development has begun at Downtown Westminster, and you now have the ability to view all of the construction progress live!

Click here and see what's going on -- and what's going up -- at the new Downtown Westminster.

Currently the city is building a six-level, 268,000-square-foot parking garage capable of parking upwards of 880 vehicles. Ample space for parking is fundamental to the success of our new downtown, and our team is building the first publically owned, green parking garage in the country.

Starting in the second quarter of 2017, multiple projects will begin construction, including Solera Salon and Grid Collaborative Workspace. They will be constructing a five- to six-story building with retail, salon and collaborative office/general office uses on a site just north of the existing JC Penney store.

Also on tap will be the 40,000-square-foot Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, going up on the western side of the new downtown. This will be the third Colorado location for the Austin-based company, featuring its funky blend of movies, beer and food, combined with creative community events for movie lovers.
Westminster residents can also expect to see a restaurant located in the Central Square, as well as a grocer. Multi-family housing will also be built to house all of our new downtown residents. Look for all of these first phase projects to be completed by second quarter of 2018.
In advance of all this construction, the city has literally laid the groundwork for these projects, to help get them off the ground. All the utilities are complete and in place, and roads will be paved and ready to drive on by spring of next year. Our Parks and Recreation team has been busy mapping out the parks and open space areas, and will begin work on the Central Square in April 2017, with the first phase completed in about a year.
In the meantime, the Parks and Recreation group continues to plan special events for Downtown Westminster, including the highly successful Halloween Harvest Celebration, which attracted more than 3,000 people in October. More great events are in the works for spring of 2017.
To help round out our new downtown, the City is conducting some research to determine what amenities will offer an unmatched experience. We have begun a mobility and transportation analysis that will investigate all of the multi-modal transportation choices to, from and within Downtown Westminster. The city is also looking at the best options that the new downtown has to offer in terms of civic and cultural facilities and attractions.
We are taking the steps to be thoughtful and deliberate in this process, so that we can deliver a downtown that our citizens will frequent and cherish for years. Follow our progress and see what unfolds as we build Downtown Westminster!
