The Thrash Group has announced they have been selected by Westminster Economic Development Authority (WEDA) to develop the first “For Sale” residential units in Downtown Westminster. The first phase of development will include 34 townhomes and 40 condominiums.
“On the heels of the growth and momentum in Downtown Westminster, we are thrilled to continue our involvement in helping to bring the City’s vision for a mixed-use urban center to fruition. What we will be offering is the first opportunity to own a Downtown residence,” said Ike Thrash, founding partner and managing director of The Thrash Group.
The Thrash Group is also developing the Origin Hotel Westminster, a 128-room boutique hotel with the Tattered Cover Bookstore on the first floor set to open this summer in Downtown Westminster. The Thrash Group is also behind the creation of Origin Hotel Red Rocks.
While Downtown Westminster currently features two apartment residences – Ascent Westminster and Eaton Street Apartments– the option to own has always been a part of the plan. “We are excited to be able to offer townhomes and condominiums,” said Herb Atchison, Mayor of Westminster. “When people have an ownership stake in a neighborhood, a true sense of community emerges. These residences will connect owners with each other and with the overall energy of Downtown Westminster.”
The Thrash Group has a long track record of residential development and believes residential ownership is the natural next step to creating a vibrant community in Downtown Westminster. “We spent a lot of time thinking through what it means to own in Downtown Westminster,” said Walker Thrash, partner with The Thrash Group. “An obvious perk is the accessibility to Boulder and Denver. Residents can easily commute, or work where they live with the influx of businesses moving to Downtown.”
The residences will be LEED Silver and inspired by the urban ideals set forth by the City. “Residents will be steps away from the 25 mile Denver-to-Boulder bikeway, along with local shopping, diverse restaurants, fitness boutiques, coffee shops, and green spaces that are included in the Downtown,” said John Hall, director of economic development for the City of Westminster. “It’s everything you need, conveniently located in one place.”
Downtown Westminster is a 108-acre project located at US 36 and Sheridan Blvd. Other recent developments in Downtown Westminster include Alamo Drafthouse, Eaton Street Apartments, and Ascent Westminster, all opening within the last seven months. Opening in 2021 will be Aspire Westminster and Westminster Peak, both mixed-use residential projects with ground floor retail. Additionally, the City recently announced a partnership with Schnitzer-West, a well-established office developer focused on urban-suburban markets in the Seattle and Denver regions, to build 650,000 square feet of office space on two sites in the Downtown.
