One way for the Economic Development Office to determine which businesses are best for Westminster is to first figure out which businesses are already here. A primary focus in 2017 was to research and evaluate the existing distribution of industry and business classifications within Westminster. The City wanted to better understand the needs of local businesses that would be most complementary to the existing economy.
The Economic Development department worked with consultants Development Research Partners to analyze and understand what types of industries are located in Westminster for targeted growth and retention strategies.The 2017 research study revealed a snapshot of Westminster employment across all industries as being broadly categorized into six groups: aerospace, business support services, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, hospitality and entertainment, technology and information.
